Somewhere ahead there lies a plateau;
Somewhere above the fog, the mist
And irrationality.
A place where the sun shines bright
And there are no clouds.
A place where life and truth and meaning
Are known and understood.
And things are seen
For what they are.
I’ve come a long way in the years past.
Alone mostly.
I’ve struggled up many steep trail
And climbed some distant mountains
That once
I never thought I could.
And I’ve learned so very much
About so many different things.
And once,
When I had stopped to rest,
I looked up and saw you.
You called my name,
You reached down, and helped me up.
You taught me how to climb
And search for.
You climb well
And I’m happy
And sometimes more
Than proud of you.
If ever it should happen
That you fall from that mountain before me
I will stop
And call your name
I will catch you
Because I will always remember
That you helped me up.
